Legend Of Thalayar Vanchimoottil Devi Temple

Worship of 'DEVI'-"THE ETERNAL MOTHER"- is an integral part of Hindu culture. In Kerala, there are more than Thousand Devi Temples. These Temples depict 'Devi' in different forms or 'Bhavas'. The forms vary from 'Bhadra-Kali'- the form in which Devi destroyed 'Darikasura', 'Durga'- who devastated the demons, 'Mahalekshmi' - who showers wealth and prosperity on her devotees, 'Saraswathy' - the Goddess for knowledge and fine arts, 'Parvathy' - the better half of Lord Shiva, and mother of 'Shree Ganesh' and 'Subramanya'.

Vanchimoottil Devi Temple is unique on many counts. Here Devi is in the form of 'DURGA' and 'BHADRAKALI' with Parvathy 'Bhava'.
